A research team at the University of Samarra has published a joint scientific paper in the Indian Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry, which is classified in the fourth quartile (Q4) of the Scopus repository.

The paper is titled “Spectrophotometric Determination of Remdesivir Using Ion-Pair Complex with Alizarin Red S Dye.” This study aimed to develop a simple and practical spectrophotometric method for estimating remdesivir using ion-pair complexation to determine various pharmaceutical drugs.

The results of the study demonstrate the practicality of the method in estimating a wide range of pharmaceutical drugs and chemicals. The method, based on the reaction of remdesivir with alizarin red S dye, produces a red-colored product with maximum absorption at a wavelength of 524 nm and a linearity range from 1 to 25 micrograms/mL.

The team consisted of Professor Dr. Liqaa Hussein Alwan and Assistant Professor Dr. Eman Diab Ahmed, faculty members at the College of Education, and Dr. Mina Abdul Salam Mustafa, a lecturer at the College of Applied Sciences.
