College of Applied Sciences Organizes Specialized Course on Purification and Separation of Organic Compounds
The Department of Applied Chemistry at the College of Applied Sciences, University of Samarra, organized a scientific course titled “Methods for the Purification and Separation of Organic Compounds.”
The course was presented by Dr. Zainab Hashim Mohammed and Dr. Esraa Ismail Saleh.
The organizers aimed to highlight the importance of obtaining pure chemical substances, removing impurities and unwanted materials, and enhancing the accuracy of laboratory analysis results.
During the sessions, Dr. Zainab explained the most prominent purification and separation techniques, including: Filtration, Recrystallization, Distillation, Solvent Extraction , Chromatography, Sublimation
She also detailed the scientific principles and practical applications for each method.
On her part, Dr. Esraa emphasized the necessity of adopting modern separation and purification methods in educational and research laboratories, recommending an increase in specialized training courses within this field.
It is noteworthy that these activities are part of the College of Applied Sciences’ ongoing efforts to develop students’ skills and elevate their proficiency in scientific research across various applied science disciplines.
