Faculty Members at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences Publish Joint Research in a Scopus-Indexed Journal
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saif Ali Mohammed, Dr. Saif Rasheed Ghanem, and Assist. Lect. Idris Saad Mahmoud, faculty members at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Samarra University, have published a joint scientific research paper in the \\\”Journal of Exercise Physiology\\\”.
The journal is published by the Dutch publishing house BRILL and is ranked within the third quartile (Q3) of the Scopus database.
Research Title and Focus
The research, titled:
\\\”A Comparative Study of Blood Flow Restriction Training Using High and Low Loads and Its Effect on Muscle Strength, Hypertrophy, Aerobic Capacity, and Fatigue Indices in Athletes\\\”
focused on the impact of Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training on the physical adaptations of trained athletes.
The research team aimed to investigate the differences between High-Load Blood Flow Restriction (HL-BFR) and Low-Load Blood Flow Restriction (LL-BFR) training. They examined their effects on several key physiological and physical variables, including Muscle strength, Muscle hypertrophy, Aerobic capacity And Fatigue indices among athletes.
The study results revealed that The HL-BFR group achieved the greatest improvements in muscle strength and recorded the highest increase in the cross-sectional area of the thigh muscles, indicating a clear impact on muscle hypertrophy and strength gains And The LL-BFR group showed superiority in variables related to aerobic capacity and fatigue.
They recorded the highest improvement in maximal oxygen consumption (VO_2max), along with a significant decrease in blood lactate concentration and a lower Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE).
The Department of Media and Government Communication congratulates the faculty members of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences on this rigorous scientific achievement, wishing them continued success in their academic and research careers.
