Physiological Effects on Physical Performance Presented in a Scientific Seminar
The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Samarra organized a scientific seminar on “The Physiological Effects of Angiotensin on Physical Performance,” presented by Dr. Saif Rashid Ghanem and Assistant Lecturer Idris Saad Mahmoud.
The presenters aimed to clarify the role of the hormone angiotensin in regulating blood pressure and fluid balance through the renin system, as well as its impact on physical performance.
They explained that elevated angiotensin levels can place stress on the heart and blood vessels, potentially affecting physical performance, especially in cases of chronic high blood pressure.
The lecturers recommended monitoring the effects of angiotensin during physical exertion, emphasizing the importance of adequate hydration, balanced nutrition, and proper sodium and potassium regulation.
In the same context, they stressed the need for caution among athletes and individuals with hypertension, particularly those using angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, to ensure a safe physiological response during exercise.
