The College of Islamic Sciences Organizes a Seminar on the Impact of Feminism on Family Structure
The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Samarra organized an awareness seminar titled “Feminism and Its Impact on the Family and Children.” The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Sarah Abbas Faraj, Dr. Maryam Mazhar Khalaf, and Dr. Rana Waleed Khalid, faculty members in the Department of Creed and Islamic Thought.
The seminar aimed to introduce the concept of feminism, its origins, and the fundamental objectives it was established to achieve.
It was noted that feminism has become, in our time, a prominent social and political movement with institutional presence in many Arab countries. It disseminates and promotes ideas claiming to achieve justice and gender equality.
The seminar’s lectures highlighted the contradictions of this movement with most religious beliefs and social norms, especially as it has opened the door to ideas of liberation, atheism, disobedience to parents, rejection of religion, and deviation from religious laws. These factors contribute to the disintegration of the family, which is the fundamental social unit of all societies. Furthermore, the lectures pointed out that those spreading feminist ideas seek to corrupt society. Feminism has also become an increasingly present trend on social media platforms, where it promotes its ideas.
