A training course at the College of Applied Sciences introduces the Bologna Process

The College of Applied Sciences at the University of Samarra organized an intensive training course titled “Introduction to the Bologna Process” (implemented in undergraduate studies at the college). The course was presented by Dr. Ahmed Jassim Mohammed and Lecturer Luay Ali Dhahi, both faculty members in the Department of Applied Chemistry.

The organizers aimed to clarify the concept of the Bologna Process, how to unify educational systems among the countries that adopt it, and to enhance mutual recognition of academic qualifications.

Dr. Jassim explained that the system was launched in 1999 with the intent to create a unified European Higher Education Area, encompassing academic structures in undergraduate and postgraduate studies, and aligning with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).

Lecturer Ali discussed ensuring the quality of the Bologna Process, enhancing common standards, and evaluating university programs, while highlighting the challenges and differences between countries, especially given its recent implementation in Iraqi universities.

The course emphasized the necessity of enhancing institutional awareness and training faculty and administrators in the standards and implementation mechanisms of the Bologna Process. It also highlighted the importance of developing curricula, particularly in colleges that adopt the Bologna system in teaching.
